CSC has been
blessed over the years by supporters who give needed items
to the ministry. We have received medicines and medical equipment,
books and school supplies, clothing, toys, vitamins, diapers,
plastic pants and other needed items.
Here are a few guidelines to help you make the biggest impact
with your in-kind gift to CSC:
1. It is much better for CSC if you send the items directly
to Cebu. Items sent to our office in Cambridge will eventually
get to Cebu, but will likely spend 6-12 months in our storeroom,
waiting for someone who is going over and can bring a box
or two of priority items. We do not have a lot of storage
space at our Cambridge office, and we don’t want to
spend a lot of money on shipping expenses if it can be avoided.
If you are going to mail the items to Cebu the difference
in postage between air and surface (by ship) mail is significant.
For most items, surface mail is fine, but you should know
that it can take three months or more before the shipment
arrives in Cebu. For items that are small in size, time specific
or might be damaged via surface mail, air mail is recommended.
Our mailing address in Cebu is:
Children’s Shelter
of Cebu
Box 178 Cebu City
Philippines
Phone: 001-63-32-254-2944
2. Please consult our list
of needed items before sending anything. This will instruct
you as to what the priorities are. It could be that the
items you are considering donating are not needed and might
be better given to another ministry.
3. In making an in-kind donation to CSC, please consider
giving only new or like-new items. This eliminates the need
for CSC to sort, repair or re-condition items, since we
do not have the manpower for these tasks.
4. To Make A Donation:
If you have items you wish to donate, please contact:
Brenda Leaf
763-689-6558
E-mail: brleaf@cscshelter.org
Provide Brenda with the particulars of your donation and
she will let you know what items are needed and provide
instructions on how to ship your donation to Cebu. Please
know that it is a matter of discretion on our part to accept
or refuse items based on their condition. Upon receipt of
donated items, we will issue a thank you letter which is
acceptable for tax purposes.
