New Teachers Hired at CHS

The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. Although the school lost two excellent teachers recently when Grace and Joan resigned to pursue jobs in the U.S., the Lord filled those vacancies quickly. We are excited that Cora Abaquita will be re-joining our school faculty after a four year absence. She is an excellent teacher, a good team member, and a versatile person who can teach in any of our levels. New to CSC next year will be Eunice Saavedra Guinanoy, the daughter of our former Principal Lisa Saavedra, and a talented teacher who will add a lot of enthusiasm and creativity to our team. We are thankful to God for bringing these two excellent teachers to Children of Hope School.

Relevance and Savings Inspire E-News

CSC will be offering our supporters a new and exciting option: our first e-mail newsletter! While we recognize that this "higher tech" option isn't for everyone, we see this as one way to save the ministry money on postage and give a convenience option to those who find it easier to get information on-line. We will continue to distribute our print version of the CSC News to those who prefer the traditional newsletter format. In everything we do at CSC, we want to be relevant to our readers and good stewards of our resources. Click here to sign up for the CSC E-Newsletter. If you'd prefer not to sign up, don't worry. You're still cool!

Teacher Grace Moves On

After 10 years on the faculty of our Children of Hope School, Teacher Grace has resigned to take a job in the United States. She will be teaching special education in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Grace has been a great teacher for our children, bringing her talent and enthusiasm to the school together with a great sense of humor. Grace could always make learning fun for her students. Thank you Grace for 10 great years and we wish you well in your new venture.

Analiza's Big Night

Graduation rites for the Children of Hope School's 2007-2008 school year were held on April 30, and it was a big night for Analiza. She was the only graduate from the elementary program, and she really enjoyed having the spotlight on her. She has worked so hard during her years at CHS, and has made tremendous progress. As the sole graduate, she delivered an appreciation speech that spoke of the many people who have helped her during her time at CHS and CSC. Five students from the pre-school class also graduated, and will join Level A when school resumes in June. Congratulations to all our graduates: Analiza, Juancho, Rafael, Sheena, Rodrigo and Wilmar! Banquet Sets Record

The 2008 CSC Banquet was a record setting night for the CSC family. We still are waiting for the total number of meals served, but the attendance was certainly a record, as more than 870 were registered! Many were touched deeply by the video presentation, the speakers and musicians, as well as the updates on the ministry, the capital campaign and the financial situation of CSC. The offering was also a record: $97,315.29!! To God be the glory! Thanks to all who attended, those who gave and those who helped make the evening a success with their time and talents. A highlight of the evening was a special presentation to Auntie Sandy Swanson, honoring her for 28 years of service to the children of CSC. Check out some pictures of the 2008 banquet.

Auntie Sandy's "Kids' Party" Report

Oh my...we didn't even count, but lots of people were there! Thirteen tables of eight each and at least 40 more sitting in chairs for the snack and video. Robert Pitner came! Lots of the older "kids" were there. Bong and his fiancee made it, but were late. Seemed like everyone enjoyed it; no one left until well after 9 p.m. Some were still there until almost 11 p.m. I hung around until the end. Juliet did too! The video was great. The kids enjoyed it. They loved seeing Tarex and Patrick flexing their muscles..that got the loudest response! Check out some pictures of the evening.
